Welcome, User, to the Manual of Style. Or, in simple terms, the editing guide. Here, you will find the guidelines when it comes to editing pages.
Page Templates[]
- Characters
- Locations
- Chapters
- Items
- Game Within a Game
- Team (IRL People)
Plot Narration[]
- In order to remain consistency, plot narrations should NOT be told in a commanding order. Rather, like you are narrating a story.
- When you are writing something on the Wiki, as much as possible write it in the present tense. While this is not required, it would be best if you do so.
EXAMPLE
Correct | Incorrect |
---|---|
First, the user taps around, touching the "o" until it falls off. | First, you must tap around, touching the "o" until it falls off. |
Once the user inputs all of them and unlocks all three areas, the user plays the game. | Once the user inputted all of them and unlocked all three areas, the user played the game. |
EXCEPTION
- The only exceptions to this rule are "Obtanability" sections under pages, which are specifically for items.
Writing[]
Links[]
- Hyperlinks should only be added once. For instance, if Game was already linked once in an article, you do not need to link Game again if his name were to appear a second time.
Capitalization and Grammar[]
- Use proper capitalization in terms of text, headers, and titles. Of course, there are certain exceptions such as titles of chapters and names of characters.
- Make sure to use proper grammar when you contribute, taking note of things such as subject-verb agreement and unclear pronouns.
EXAMPLE
Correct | Incorrect |
---|---|
At the start of the chapter, an epilog is played, leading the player to believe that the user and Game got back home. | At the Start of the Chapter, A Epilog is Played, leading the Player To Believe that The User and Game got Back Home. |
Loss of Control | Loss of control |
Date and Number Format[]
- When adding anything with a date, make sure to use the format "Month DD, YYYY".
EXAMPLE
Correct | Incorrect |
---|---|
October 12, 2019 | October 12th 2019 12th October 2019 12 Oct 19 10/12/2019 |
Files[]
- All files that are uploaded to the Wiki MUST be related to either of the games that this Wiki is about. Any unrelated files may be deleted. When you upload a file, make sure that the file name tells others what exactly the file is about.
- Images and screenshots must be at the best possible quality.
Categories[]
- All pages should contain at least one category. Stub categories do not count.
- All categories that appear on pages should be listed on the official category list. Otherwise, the unneeded categories might be removed.
- If the categories list isn't updated, please contact Colossal Wonders.
- All incomplete pages MUST have the "Stub" template at the top of the page for easier identification.
- Stub categories and templates should be removed once the page is complete.
Edits[]
Edit Summary[]
- As much as possible, use the edit summary. This allows editors to get a bird's eye view on what you changed.
Major Edits[]
- For more major edits to articles (complete layout changes, image changes, quote changes, etc.), contact any staff member. If it is fit, then it will be changed.
Minor Edits[]
- However, for minor edits (capitalization, grammar, etc.), you just need to mark them as minor. You can see the box at the bottom that says "This is a minor edit." If your edit is indeed minor, tick the box.
That should've covered everything, you should be good to go! Happy editing, and remember, THERE IS NO GAME!
